Britney Trial Passes Another Roadblock

OK, lawyers. Britney Spears has to face the music, you hear?
A three-judge panel has refused to throw out a year-old misdemeanor charge against the popster for driving with an invalid license, a case that's finally scheduled to go to trial Oct. 15 after months of legal wrangling on Spears' behalf.
No explanation was given in the one-page ruling, but the decision was unanimous. A pretrial hearing is set for Wednesday.
Spears' attorney Michael Flanagan filed a 51-page motion in Los Angeles Superior Court Sept. 29 to "immediately stay all proceedings" with the hope that the appellate judges would move to dismiss the charge, which Flanagan has disputed as an example of Spears' celebrity being used against her.

Britney Spears has 2 men on the go
Britney Spears is back in contact with her ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib – as well as spending time with her agent Jason Trawick. Dad Jamie, who lives with 26-year-old Brit, refuses to allow former paparazzi Adnan, 36, in the house. But the pair have been texting each other virtually every day for the past month. In one message Britney declares that she’s still in love with him and can’t ‘wait to be on her own’ and have her dad out of her life. But Jamie, 59, is pushing his daughter towards another man – her agent Jason Trawick. The pair were spotted together on 4 July enjoying an Independence Day date on a yacht at LA’s chic Marina Del Rey.
‘Jason’s been by Brit’s side for over 2 years,’ says a source. ‘But while Jamie may portray them as boyfriend and girlfriend, it’s just not happening. Adnan’s the one she loves.’

Britney Spears' custody dispute hearing rescheduled
July 14, 2008 (Sawf News) - A hearing in Britney Spears' child custody dispute with ex Kevin Federline, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, has been postponed to Friday, July 18, possibly indicating a renewed attempt by lawyers to reach an out-of-court settlement. Spears had primary custody of her two children with Federline, Sean Preston, born September 14, 2005, and Jayden James, born September 12, 2006, under a 50/50 custody arrangement, which was part of the divorce settlement reached by the couple in July, 2007.However, she lost physical custody to Federline on October 1, 2007, after he went to court in September over her increasingly erratic lifestyle and substance abuse. Britney's overnight visitation privileges with her kids were suspended on January 2, 2008, after she refused to return them to Kevin's custody following a scheduled visitation on January 2. A stand off with the police ensued after which Britney was forcibly hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The police stand off also resulted in Britney being placed under a conservatorship because of mental health issues.
LA County Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who is presiding over Britney Spears' child custody dispute with ex Kevin Federline, granted the now recovering pop star overnight visitation privileges with her two toddlers on Tuesday, June 24. Britney's lawyer in the custody dispute, Laura Wasser, probably understands that Britney stands to gain more from an out-of-court settlement since she is under a conservatorship which would constrain the court's ability to restore her primary custody privileges.

Britney Spears to film footage for Madonna
NEW YORK (AP) — Madonna has recruited Britney Spears for a virtual appearance on her upcoming tour. "There is footage being shot of Britney some time this week in conjunction with Madonna's upcoming (Sticky & Sweet) tour," Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in an e-mail Tuesday to The Associated Press. "That is all the information I have available. The rest is `a secret.'" Rosenberg denied reports that Spears, 26, is shooting a music video.
Madonna guest starred in a music video for Spears' single "Me Against the Music" in 2003. The singers stirred up controversy that year with an open-mouth kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna, 49, will kick off her tour Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and wind through European destinations including London and Paris before jumping to the U.S. in October.

Britney Spears' book upset
U.S. singer Britney Spears watches the Houston Rockets play the Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA basketball game in Los Angeles, in this March 30, 2007 file photo. A Los Angeles judge questionedBritney Spears and a parenting coach on June 24, 2008 during a hearing into the pop star's child custody case before ordering a change to her visitation status with her two sons.Britney Spears is furious over her mother's plan to release a book about her. The 'Toxic' singer is reportedly so angry with her mother Lynne Spears' decision to publish the tome - which details both Britney and her sister Jamie Lynn's showbiz lives - she refuses to be in the same room as her.
The disagreement is said to be so severe Britney initially refused to be present when her younger sister Jamie Lynn gave birth earlier this month because she didn't want to see Lynne.
A source said: "Britney was so upset and angry with her mom that at first she refused to be at the birth. She couldn't bear to be in the same room as her. "But when Jamie Lynn found out that Britney might not be in there, she got really frightened and couldn't stop crying.
She begged her sister to reconsider, and at the last minute Britney agreed to come." Britney is so desperate to stop Lynne publishing her memoirs she has even reportedly tried to bribe her.
The source added to Britain's Closer magazine: "Britney feels that just as she is moving forward, her mom is dragging her back. She'd even offered to pay her mom the equivalent of the book money to keep her quiet."

Britney Spears' airport attack
Britney Spears almost burst into tears on Friday after a clash between her bodyguard and a photographer turned ugly. The Gimme More singer was greeted at LAX Airport by a huge crowd of paparazzi as she arrived back in California following her brief trip to Louisiana to help her sister Jamie Lynn give birth. More than thirty snappers swarmed around her vehicle as she attempted to make her getaway outside the arrivals terminal. The media scrum soon turned aggressive and her bodyguard was forced to step in to keep the photographers at bay, as a clearly upset Spears kept her head down.
However, a fight nearly broke out when the bodyguard pushed a camera into a snapper's face, according to Airport Police Sergeant Jim Holcomb. Meanwhile, the biographer who tricked Britney into thinking he was a photographer has revealed that Britney thinks she will die in the next six months. Amid all the claims of drug abuse, bipolar problems and suicidal tendencies, Ian Halperin states Spears told him personally she fears she will die at 27. The biographer, who ironically penned a book about Kurt Cobain - who lost his life at 27, tells Life & Style magazine, "She told me she feared she'd die at age 27 (her current age), just like other music stars, like Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain."
Joplin and Cobain aren't the only members of the sinister 27 Club - rock greats Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Brian Jones all perished before their 28th birthday.
